Introduction

Golf is a sport that has registered unparalleled growth worldwide, with over 80 million people practising the sport, and is assuming a growing social and economic significance. Golf in Portugal has been following this trend. Statistics available demonstrate that in the last few years there has been a particularly great increase in the number of Portuguese Golfers and a wider selection of Golf Courses.

In the latter case, in the last fifteen years, the number of golf courses in Portugal has tripled and there are, currently, 75 golf courses in operation. Associated with tourism, golf in Portugal has become an industry with a very high development potential. Today, because of golf, some 275,000 foreign players enter the country every year, play more than 1 million rounds of golf that generates direct revenues exceeding 300 million Euros and total revenue estimated at 1.8 billion Euros.

Objectives

The Post-graduation in Golf Management was designed to provide training and skills to technicians and managers to enable them to lead organizations involved in this activity. The main objective of the course is to complement the students’ academic education, and any professional experience they may have, with a multidisciplinary program that promotes the development of skills in Golf Management and preparing them for a successful career in this industry.

Access

•Graduate Degree holders in general but giving preference to graduates in Management, Economics, Marketing, Tourism, Sports or Environment.

•Undergraduates whose curriculums reflect adequate basic education and relevant professional experience.
